Psikologi sosial adalah cabang ilmu yang menjembatani psikologi dan sosiologi dalam memahami bagaimana pikiran, perasaan, dan perilaku individu dipengaruhi oleh keberadaan orang lain, baik secara nyata maupun imajiner. Buku ini hadir sebagai panduan komprehensif yang merangkum konsep-konsep utama, teori, serta penerapan psikologi sosial dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dan berbagai konteks sosial modern. Buku ini isusun berdasarkan kerangka pemikiran Vaughan & Hogg serta Myers, buku ini menelusuri empat level analisis dalam psikologi sosial: intrapersonal, interpersonal, kelompok, dan ideologis. Pembahasan di dalamnya mencakup proses-proses kognitif dan afektif seperti persepsi sosial, sikap, identitas diri, hingga interaksi sosial, relasi antarindividu, perilaku prososial, dan agresivitas.
Buku ini juga mengulas bagaimana perilaku sosial berkembang dalam konteks kelompok dan masyarakat, termasuk fenomena konformitas, polarisasi kelompok, serta konflik sosial yang kini juga terjadi di ruang digital. Pada bagian akhirnya, pembaca akan diajak memahami penerapan psikologi sosial dalam berbagai bidang mulai dari politik, hukum, media, kesehatan, hingga organisasi dan perilaku lingkungan. Sebagai buku ajar, karya ini tidak hanya memberikan pemahaman teoretis tetapi juga menekankan relevansi empiris psikologi sosial dalam menjawab tantangan masyarakat modern. Buku ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi utama bagi mahasiswa, dosen, peneliti, dan siapa pun yang ingin memahami dinamika perilaku manusia dalam konteks sosialnya.
